Be Right Back: In My Vacation Era
I wanted to write 'brb' instead of 'be right back' but my mother reads this newsletter and I didn't think she would understand the acronym. Love you mom!
I know what you're thinking: 'Aren't you unemployed?' Well, yes, actually. Every day is a vacation for me. Thanks for asking. However, since starting this blog, my BookTok and Bookstagram account as well as my Instagram account for this blog (thank you for following!) I've been super busy and actually respect influencers a lot more than I used to. I actually think being a content creator is a full-time job and also so hard? I’m barely getting the hang of it, but you know what they say: 'If you love your job, you’ll never work a day in your life,' or something like that.
Anyway, hello and happy Monday, babes! I mentioned last week that I would be going to LA this week, and I will actually be back by the time you read this. I also remember saying that I would be giving some recommendations on the new restaurants and hotspots I try, however, that will have to wait until next week since I didn’t want to take my computer on vacation with me. Also, yes, I do have an iPad; I just don’t feel inspired writing on it, you know? I just have never vibed with it.
So, today I will be staying on par with the usual book recommendations, workouts or whatever I feel like and it will be until NEXT Monday or maybe this Friday that I will be giving my LA recommendations and verdicts. It depends on my mood, actually. So hello again, I'm writing this on Wednesday, March 13th. I feel like today's date is bad luck. I don't know why. Anywho, here are this week's book highlights, a smoothie recipe I've been loving with this heat wave, AND I don’t know what else yet, but worry not. It will come to me by the end of this week's entry.
Reading highlights:
So, last week I actually started this new fantasy series (new for me, not new new) called Shades of Magic by V.E. Schwab, and I gotta tell you, I’ve been LOVING IT. This trilogy right here proves to me why Fantasy is one of my favorite genres, and I will obviously tell you all about it, but keep in mind I probably have one more book to go by the time this week’s newsletter comes out.
This trilogy follows Kell Maresh, a rare Traveler (Antari) with the ability to move between parallel versions of London (Red, Grey, White and Black London), each with its own level of magic. He gets caught up in a dangerous conflict when he smuggles forbidden artifacts between worlds. Alongside a cunning thief named Lila Bard, Kell navigates political intrigue, confronts ancient evils, and grapples with the consequences of his actions. It's a gripping fantasy series filled with adventure, magic, and complex characters. An absolute addictive read.
Next, since I am from Mexico City, I don’t really know when spring break is, but for us Mexicans, it's vacation time, so I will be recommending a very easy read—or should I call it 'a beach read'? This book will take you through a fun journey full of amazing characters and unforgettable storytelling, but most importantly, they are pretty easy to get into *wink*.
Picking Daisies on Sundays by Liana Cincott
So, this book easily earned a solid 4 stars from me, which says a lot considering I've been stuck in a terrible reading slump lately and can't stand cringey dialogue. And you know what the best part is? It was independently published by a small author. And since we're celebrating women this month, that's something we absolutely love to see! Now, for those who want a sneak peek into the story:
This book follows the story of two high school sweethearts who get a second chance at love. They've always had feelings for each other but struggle to admit it. As a fan of second chance romances, I found it fun seeing the main characters reconnect and of course as a Swiftie, I adored the nods to her lyrics scattered throughout the book.
My favorite smoothie recipe:
This recipe was actually inspired by Hailey Bieber’s strawberry glaze Erewhon smoothie but like, cheaper and with stuff one can find in a regular grocery store or amazon.

You’ll need:
1 cup of frozen strawberries
1/4 a frozen banana
1 pitted date
One scoop of vanilla protein powder or vanilla collagen powder
1/4 of an avocado
1/2 a cup of coconut milk with no sugar
1/2 a cup of almond milk with no sugar
PRO TIP: All your fruits and veggies should be frozen for a creamy consistency and use as little liquid as possible if you can!
*I feel like I must add that I actually never measure my ingredients and only eyeball it but these measurements would be the safest bet. Also, linked below will be my favorite protein powder in Mexico and my favorite in the U.S
Habits Protein Powder (Mexican Brand)
Vital Proteins Vanilla Collagen (U.S Brand)
What else should I recommend today? Let me think.
Oh! The TV Show The Gentlemen on Netflix is awesome. A must watch for next weekend or this week whatever. Also, Theo James is in it so it’s win in my book.
This TV Show is a wild crime drama centered on Eddie played by Theo James, who unexpectedly inherits his father's dukedom and estate over his older brother—only to discover that the land is being used as part of a cannabis empire, coordinated by Susie Glass.
Enjoy my darlings and see you next week for more fun recommendations!
